Day 6. Out and Home

We all got up at 7:00. We had to get back because Rick, Warren and Alan had all made plans to start another canoe trip that evening (which was kind of crazy we you think about it). I felt like death warmed over but off we went paddling down the river. There were no rapids and just a bit of wind in our face. Both sides of the river were burned out; in places there were green trees on the north bank because the fire had jumped right over them.

We paddled for about 3 hours and arrived at the bridge over the river at just before noon. We got to the house where the truck was at exactly noon. The people we had left the truck with were very surprised that we were on time. We took a group picture before we loaded the truck.

We put all the gear in the trailer and all 6 of us squeezed into the Bronco. We picked up my car at the Johnson and I laid down in the back to sleep. We all stopped at the Devil Lake camp ground and dropped off Rick, Warren and Alan and their gear. Warren's paddles almost came back to Saskatoon with us. Rick's wife, Sharon, had chilli waiting for us.

Tim, Mike and I drove back to Saskatoon in the two vehicles. We made it home at around 1:00 am.
